Advantages:

-We use high quality field cases, with more powerful magnets than OE and other aftermarket manufacturers
-Instead of a front bushing, we use a needle bearing, which offers less resistance, allowing the starter to gain RPM quickly
-Planetary gear reduction has bearing equipped gears, unlike our competition which use gears that ride on bushings. The gears with bearings cost almost 10 times as much, but we don’t cut corners anywhere
-The solenoids were specially developed for Ford CART style racing. OE solenoids were lasting one race weekend, our new solenoids last several races, even seasons. Cheap off shore solenoids weren’t even tried

Performance:

These units produce about 40% more torque than the original direct drive Ford units, at a far less weight, 8lbs versus 15lbs.
Other manufacturers claim these units are good for up to 14 to 1 compression. We think that is a bit over rated, and suggest only going to 10/10.5 to 1. They will crank the higher compression motors, but this style of motor will not last very long cranking a really high compression motor. Don’t believe everything you hear.
All in all these units are an excellent upgrade from either the old style direct drive starters or OE Ford PMGR starters. We have several different front housings, allowing for mounts into just about any Ford motor/tranny combination.
