Where to start? This unit was designed and manufactured by Denso. They are the worlds largest manufacturer of gear reduction starters, and the OE supplier for company’s such as GM, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, just to name a few.

Many people would recognize them more for the basis of most companies HD racing starters. As many companies use copied parts, copied designs of Denso’s 1.4kw starters, as found in 100’s of stock applications.

This is not a cheap knock off, it is the real deal, and it isn’t a wimpy 1.4kw’s either. This unit is 1.8kw, it was designed to be HD from the very beginning. In fact it is the only starter every designed for severe duty Ford applications. The other Denso knock offs are based on what Denso designed for standard automotive 4, 6, and small cylinder V8’s.

To give you an idea of its performance as compared to other starters. It was designed to replace OE Ford starters that were in an application where their life span was counted in several months. The 3205HDGR lasts over a year in the same application.
Comparing it to the knock offs, which can produce from 160 to 200 ftlb’s at the fly wheel. The 3205HDGR produces an incredible 300+ ftlbs. That is 50% more torque than the competition’s best.

The starter is also seal very well, so it is far more weather resistant than original Ford starters. It is not water proof, but very close to it.

So if you have a high compression motor, or are in a really abusive application, this is the best starter for you. You simply cannot buy a bigger or stronger or better quality starter for a small block Ford. Period, end of discussion.

It does however have a few minor draw backs when compared to the knock off’s. Its front housing is not rotatable. However, if a stock PMGR or Direct Drive fit, it will too, as they have the same foot print. But if you have aftermarket headers that interfered with  the original starter, they will with this unit as well. If for some reason it doesn’t fit, we will certainly accept it as a return. (Provided you haven’t used a sledge hammer or grinder on it). We have had customers modify high dollar headers to able to reuse this starter, it is simply that good.
It’s switch terminal connection is a push on type connection. We would prefer a bolt down connection like found on the 3205 Thunder Series. But hey, you can’t have everything. In a way it is advantage for drag racers, as it makes starter removal a little easier. So when you want to put the starter on to another new motor, it will take you less time. After a few years of replacing the motor and not the starter, you should get really quick at it, LOL.
